There are specific requirements that an applicant must meet to become enrolled in the Front Range Nurse Aide Training Program. These are identified on the application form that can be downloaded by clicking on the button provided above-right.
What do all the abbreviations I keep seeing stand for?
There are hundreds of medical abbreviations used across the country. For nurse aides and nursing assistants, the most common are as follows:
CNA (Certified Nurse Aide)
NA (Nurse Aide- not yet certified by State)
CT (Clinical Technician)
STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) PCT (Patient Care Technician)
HHA (Home Health Aide)
HHCA (Home Health Care Assistant)
PSW (Personal Support Worker)
RNA (Restorative Nursing Assistant)
CAC (Certified Alzheimer Caregiver)
RA (Resident Assistant)
QMAP (Qualified Medication Administration Personnel)
Are CNAs required to have CPR, First Responder or Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications?
These certifications are not required by the Colorado State Board of Nursing in order to become a CNA, and most medical facilities do not require such when you are first hired. In fact, many medical facilities will provide or sponsor such training after you have been hired as a CNA. Having CPR certification is just good common sense for everyone! (it is also impressive on a job application).
